The Battle of Foshir Military Conflict in The Virgo Cluster | World Anvil

The Battle of Foshir

The battle of Foshir is one of the few large scale space battles in the Welcome to the Virgo Cluster. A world was rendered uninhabitable while the aggressors were repelled.

The Conflict

Prelude

Trouble had been brewing in the Kahless SubSector for years as the leadership in the Solderland SubSector attempted to take over highly populated systems.

Deployment

Several Battle squadrons were deployed and entered the Froshir system, then the capital of the Kahless SubSector. In an attempt to stave off the aggressive actions, the 73rd Fleet was dispatched en masse to Froshir to fight against the invaders.

Battlefield

While the bulk of the battle was spaceborne throughout the system, some rogue elements attempted to bombard the Froshir. Several large nuclear weapons were used and while these bombing ships were destroyed, the world became unstable and would become uninhabitable. A massive recovery effort was made to move the survivors to Kahless System and the 73rd Fleet was able to defeat the invaders although the cost to the planet was a forgone conclusion.

Outcome

Froshir has become uninhabitable and is now an interdicted world. About half of the population was successfully taken to Kahless System.

Aftermath

Many derelicts from both sides remain in the system and scavengers are able to retrieve equipment although the Navy and the Rangers continue to keep this to a minimum.

Historical Significance

Legacy

The battle is one of the "successful" highlights of the 73rd Fleet although the loss of a very habitable world still impacts the area. As a result, Kahless System became the capital of the subsector, moving it further spinward.
