Pyra Enforcement Cutter

The Pyran Enforcement Cutters are designed to provide long endurance safety and enforcement services throughout the belt. Designed for standard 26 week missions with a fifty percent mission extension ability, they are well armed and armored in case of combat and equipped for emergency services including trained medical personnel and facilities.
The Crew consists of a Captain, five ship pilots, 4 engineers, 2 mechanics, 2 medics, 10 gunners, 2 stewards, 5 Marines, and 2 cutter pilots. Many crew are cross trained and sometimes will fill different roles on different cruises to break up the training and monotony. In particular, pilots and gunners may cross train into finance, law knowledge and adjudication, or may seek training into engineering and leadership. 
They were constructed by Otis Interstellar Shipbuilding in the Otis system and ferried to Pyra. The class is near 50 years old and starting to show their age as they are on near constant patrol without the need for heavy maintenance with the lack of jump drives. Well maintained and loved by their crews, there have been some advancements, especially in propulsion and sensors. The Protectors are starting to hear (and probably pass on) rumors that the Pyran government is considering purchasing a set of new ships. While this will take years, all good organizations know that the planning has to begin well before the need is required. None of the ships have been lost or heavily damaged during their tours, but that doesn't mean that their luck may not be stretched. Considering that there are no spares in the event of the long term or total loss of a ship, it's not too soon to consider the options. Crews have continuously maintained lists of (generally fairly reasonable) improvements both for better mission capability and crew sustainability. Both would be welcome by the crews and leadership of the Protectors.
