The Starling
The Starling is an infamous bandit leader who was active from the years of 1018-1044.
Although he initially started out by harrassing and robbing trade caravans attempting to pass through Solano Pass or other nearby mountain passes, his greed grew along with his power and influence, until he began kidnapping and ransoming vulnerable nobles who passed thorugh his territory.
Perhaps the most notable of these kidnappings occurred in 1037 when the Starling and his men captured the Marqués Alborota and his entire family as they were traveling to visit a relative in Santisa. Although the majority of the family was eventually released unharmed, the youngest daughter of the Alborota family was mercilessly killed by the bandits before help could arrive.
Unsatisfied by this level of brutality, the Starling and his men crossed the Narrow Strait to the Isle of Alborota itself a mere six years later in order to finish off the rest of the family. After murdering the entirety of House Alborota, the Starling took control over the island and oversaw a lawless regime of terror that lasted a full year before the emperor's forces were able to liberate the island following The Battle of Basnora Pass, where the Starling himself finally disappeared from the face of history.
Nobody knows where the Starling is today. If his bones lie rotting in Basnora Pass (as we must all hope they do), then it has never been confirmed. Despite his infamy, little is known about him on a perosonal level, and few but his closest luietenants
