Deep town - Choktaun

Choktaun is an ancient Dwarven town. It used to be part of a wider Dwarven network, but as time went by the dwarven realm was invaded by a variety of orcs, goblins, and other mountainous beasts.

Demographics

Dwarf 50% Elf 5% Gnome 20% Halfelf 3% Halfling 5% Halforc 2% Human 15% Most of the people hear are some what poor, cut off from the rest of the world in and around the valley. Most of the humans residing in the town came from the mountain tribes, A different breed from the people who make up most of the valley. The dwarves are mostly from the Gilre clan, and are cut off from the council.

Government

There are three tiers to the government, the first being the Elder Gilre the Wise. The elder serves as the executive, making decisions for the town, and leading defense and work efforts. Next is the House Lords. In traditional dwarven culture, this would be made up of elders from the houses making up the clan, but due to the isolation, and the other people, they have become more abstract. The houses are, Koorbohl, Sword, Gidinto, Spade, Lake. Finally, once a year, or in times of great stress, they have the town Meet, where everybody comes together to discuss the plan of action.

Defences

Most of the town is built in a cork screw pattern into the ground, although as the non-Dwarf population grows, the surface portion has grown, facilitating the use of a stone wall, quarried out of the mines. Inside, their are various defenses, to ward off attackers. These include a number of defense points through the spiral, they have have spear and crossbow points, and can be blocked by gates and other traps to hinder invaders.

Geography

Located at the edge of a lake valley isolated from the other urban centers of the valley. The lack's famous blue color comes from glacier melt from the higher peaks, and provides good fishing. The land around it is narrow, but is still enough to have grass and evergreens.
