Klaszia, the Last Whisper

"Names are powerful things, I presume you know? They are, quite simply, what ties you to this very world on which you stand - what keep that soul of yours from gallivanting off into the Void. You know this. I am well aware. I hear the voice in your mind, just as I hear the voices of all who clamour around you, all who shall confront you, and all of those whom you will never meet. You, my darling, are more - just as I am more to you. I hear the words in your head, for I am the words in your head. And my, do they wonder; they ask... 'Was it all worth it?'   "So, my dear sweet Dove? I asked you a question."
Words allegedly spoken from the goddess Klaszia to the troubadour, Naia Lorelai Cathdeiryn II

Holy Books & Codes

Word of the lady of the Archive is noted down rather studiously. The Oracular Order of Ewarice is responsible for printing the tomes associated with Klaszian faith, and distributing them to temples and bookstores all around the continent.
  • The Blackbound Tome: A 500 page manual which can be found in the vast majority of Ewaricean homes and other Klaszian places of worship. The book contains the basic of the faiths dogma and practices, holidays and proverbs as well a quaint addition in the newer editions; a selection of every day rituals, spells and knick-knacks to ease a Klaszian's life. Amongst them are ways to get rats out of the pantry, wards to protect the home from nightmares (or the in-laws), ways to enchant a broom to do the sweeping for you etc. This has made the Blackbound tome a rather popular book not only amongst the Klaszian faithful but amongst students of magic and the middle class all across the continent.
  • Kasi Unamarłych: Referred lovingly to as the Kasi, this tome is a small handy handbook of 847 pages, all centred around identifying and eliminating undead. The manual is manufactured exclusively by the oracular order, and handed out to Klaszian Hallowed necromancers. Possession of such a tome without the proper paperwork is a serious legal offence.
  • Kasiga Widza: The Visiers book is a series of volumes which include visions, dreams and prophecies from the members of the Ewarician Oracular Order. The tomes are printed yearly, and are relatively thin, but in very high demand amongst the Empire's population as well as any devoted diviners.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Klaszia birthed the concept of time and mortality from within herself, and gifting it to the mortal folk. Her realm, The Archive was constructed from the living essence of mortal souls, and it encompasses all mortal memories from birth till death. She holds the key to this realm, also known as the Silver Mark, and so, one of her symbols is a silver, ornate key. This is the symbol worn by her clergy.
With the making of the physical plane, Klaszia approached The Witch of Wonders and asked her to create the perfect messenger, a creature free and wild and dangerous, but wise and all seeing. And so Rinari created her a creature to fit this description; the owl. These birds of prey serve as her contact with the mortals on a much smaller scale (after all, divine intervention may not be the best way to respond to every prayer). In Ewarice, shrines to Klaszia are often statues of Owls clutching wicker baskets where offerings are meant to be placed.

Tenets of Faith

  • Your time is limited. Use it well.
  • You are naught but the memories you leave in your wake.
  • All things come to an end. It is not a tragedy, it is life.
  • Those who evade the Archive spoil the soil of the living.

Holidays

The Festival of the Carrion Crows; This holiday is celebrated widely across the The Ewarician Empire, though the date changes, dependent on the most recent conflict in the area. The Festival of the Carrion Crows is the largest Klaszian holiday of the year, though the date on which it is celebrated changes from country to country.
On the date in which the last major conflict in the area began (for example, the 13th of Rain in Peloria), A week-long celebration of life and your fellow man is held, with various foods, games, contests and shows to experience during that time. For the whole week, violence is strictly prohibited, with some cities even punishing the offence with death, to be carried out on the Festival's completion.
On the last day, a grand feast is held on the longest road in town, with the nobility descending to join the common folk at the dinner table. Normally, a speech is given to commemorate the occasion, and to deliver a message of hope to the people. Then, before anyone begins their meal, the most prominent Klaszian figure (a priestess, hallowed necromancer, or even a Szeptucha) will read out the names of every individual in the city, town or village that lost their life in the previous conflict, so that their days in the afterlife may be continued indefinitely. Of course, it is believed by Klaszians that you die not once, but twice - once when your body expires, and again when your name is spoken for the final time on this mortal plane.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Klaszia is said to be the divinity most sympathetic to mortal behaviour. After all, by her very nature, she knows all mortals more intimately than anyone. At any given time she experiences the lives; the joys and sorrows, victories and defeats of all who are born and will die. Perhaps because of this, she relatively rarely interferes in large scale events of the mortal races; instead, she watches passively, until someone catches her attention. The first tenet of her followers, 'live well' does not necessarily translate to 'be good' and more... be interesting. As such, some call her the Divine Story Teller. She prods individuals and places things, people, obstacles in front of them just to see if they can perhaps surprise her.
Because of this ultimate empathy, Klaszia holds an unquenching hatred for undeath. All mortal souls are meant to die, and pass onto The Archive, where their souls are judged and sent onto the planes of other gods. The undead defy this natural law and are effectively ripped from Klaszia's pool of souls. She can no longer see and feel through them, their souls are forever bound to The Mother's Maw. To her, this is the highest, most terrible form of theft. Klaszia and her followers aim to rid the mortal plane of undead for good.
