Magic Affinity

On Nimyrgia, Magic behaves uniquely according to the exposure to Tumoa's light. The behavior is cat4egorized as a type of "Affinity" as the following:  
  • Light Affinity: Magic that has a light affinity requires the light from the sun. This magic is strongest at the light pole and is weakest at the dark pole.
  • Dark Affinity: Magic that has a dark affinity is made weaker by the sun and is strongest at the dark pole and weakest at the light pole.
  • Balanced Affinity: Balanced affinity magic draws its strength from the darkness as well as the light. It is strongest in the twilight regions while weakest at the poles.
  • Neutral Affinity: Neutral affinity magic is unaffected by the sun and is equally effective in light and dark.
      The magical scholars of Nimyrgia have studied magic and assigned different magic to magical schools. Magic within a school has one of the above-mentioned affinities. The consequence of the affinity is listed in the table below:

Necromancy Dark - Power is derived from our primal fears of shadow and death
Abjuration Balanced - The darkness hides and the light cleanses
Conjuration Dark - Summoned creatures are made of shadow and darkness
Enchantment Neutral - Both light and dark bare their delights
Evocation Light - Light and heat are the energies that drive power
Illusion Balanced - Only with light and shadow can the false be made to seem real
Transmutation Light - The power is within and must be brought to the light to manifest
The world of Nimyrgia can be divided into different zones. There is the Light Hemisphere, the Dark Hemisphere and the Equatorial Zone.   Below are the effects of each zone on each type of affinity (The specifics below are likely to change!)
