Tieflings - Cursed Individuals
Tieflings are cursed people. Somehow, some way they have been physically twisted by fiendish blood. For some, they are born, whether because some ancestor trucked with some evil entity, or was cursed to bear only demonic creatures. Others are changed by entering pacts themselves with such beings, or cursed by others who had contact with outside forces. A few are caused by magical means that went awry. It doesn't matter what happened, for as soon as a Tiefling is seen in a community, they are either driven off, left out to die at birth, or killed on sight. This is especially true on regions that have a strong ethical belief in a cosmic force of good and evil, and the Tiefling is automatically seen as evil, even if not.
Each Tiefling has a set of horns that grow out of the forehead just below the hairline, and usually a tail. Their eyes & skin colour are different, either with red, or rarely purple, purple tinges to the skin, to brightly coloured skin of that type. The eye colour can range from red, to yellow, to pure black. Their hair can range in almost any colour, and they can sometimes have sharp teeth and/or a forked tongue in extreme cases. Each seems to have an innate ability to read, write, and speak Infernal.
When one survives, it is usual for them to congregate in out-of-the-way places, and avoid settlements of other species. A few will happily take up jobs in criminal enterprises, and in evil aligned species, especially as thieves, assassins, and warlocks. These are regular jobs for them, though a few can take on other roles too. If one is found in another type of settlement, they are shunned, and forced into the slums, doing the dirtiest & worst jobs so they are are effectively out of sight and out of mind.
Tieflings are generally forced out of every community they, or their family, was a part of. In the cases where they don't take up with evil creatures or organisations, they will set up hidden communities of their own, or at least a hidden organization to help themselves and others of their kind.
