The Oaken Shields

The Oaken Shields are a group of Druids found spanning the region of north western Europe. They are organised loosely, though regularly meet about once a year on Anglesey off the coast of north Wales. The purpose is to protect the wisdom of their beliefs and to teach the practice of druidism to others they find worthy. What many don't know, at least openly is that the organisation holds & protects many magical items of Celtic mythology, and have regular contact with the Seelie Council. This gives them great sway in the regions the druids practice in. 
Each druid is an equal at the meeting and their word carries weight during it. Each one is at the height of their power as well, and have contacts throughout all of western Europe, relying on other religious figures in the Germanic peoples, and a few have contacts amongst the heathens in Egypt, and south eastern Europe. There is an uneasy truce amongst themselves and the Roman Catholic Church, that has erupted in open hostility at times. Though they don't have the numbers compared to the church, they more than make up for it in fanatical followers & powerful magic. Each also honours the dead, especially the druids that were massacred by Roman Legionnaires on Anglesey all those centuries ago. This is a further problem between them and the church.
