Hobgoblins

The Hobgoblins are a powerful race of Goblinoids that has risen in the Asiatic Steppes and has spread into Asia. They are now looking to spread their influence into eastern parts of Europe. As a species they seem to have evolved underground, somewhere near Mongolia long ago. Rumours from a few centuries ago speak that the first Hobgoblins were a branch of Humanity that got trapped underground and made their way to the Underdark, where something changed them. When they started to come back to the surface, they had changed. They are now hairier, with fine hair on much of their skin, and the leaders have red or blue coloured noses (those born with this is marked in greatness). They were primitive, but soon studied the ways of war from the local dominant Asian peoples, and not just adapted, but adapted quickly. Their armour, weapons, equipment, and tactics have advanced enough to be a true threat to others.
As a people they have also trained Worgs & Dire Wolves to act as mounts, and beasts of burden. They are primarily nomadic, but will take over cities, converting them to bases for resupply, recreation, training, and procreation. Each city took like this is kept as intact as possible, and the inhabitants are kept largely intact too. Only the military and religious classes are killed, replaced with their own peoples to keep it running. 
The forces of the Hobgoblins are split around the tribe, with it being as much warband as tribe. Leaders are at the top, with blue or red noses, with priests & spellcasters being high ranking too, and then the different military units. Some are archers or crossbow men, others spearmen, and others swordsmen to name but a few. A an evil race, they are surprisingly disciplined and follow orders.
Their armour has a distinct look and feel to them. They have copied many designs of them from the peoples they regularly fight against or carry out mercenary work for. What is not known, at least for the peoples of Europe, is that the Hobgoblins have been in Europe before. About 400 years prior they fought as mounted troops as part of Attila the Hun's army and seen that Europe is as rich as Asia, though in much more turmoil than their usual enemies in the East. At present they are allied to the Slavic peoples and providing a stable band of warriors for their armies. This is due in part to the concerted efforts of people like the Chinese Dynasty, and others like the Tibetan & Korean peoples, and other empires in the region putting up stiff resistance to them. It is the turmoil after the fall of the Western Roman Empire that has led them west, as different nations fight it out to gain dominance.
