Christianity
Christianity has risen in power over the past 600 years. Initially an off-shoot of Judaism, and effectively a cult when first practised, in many regions it has been codified over time & spread. Many variants has sprung up over time due to different interpretations of the source material, and slight changes have took place. This is due to the texts being translated from the original basics of the Old Testament (written in Aramaic & Hebrew) to the New Testament which wasn't wrote down until 100 to 300 years after the events on average. Also, the New Testament was originally codified in Greek & Latin, along with elements of Aramaic & Hebrew. There are a number of texts in each, and the New Testament has a number of books that are different & interpretations of it are even more widely viewed than the Old. The earliest versions are still in use by groups like the Coptic church, mainly in Egypt with 53 books in the New Testament, and 47 books in the others. In some cases it has been used to try to control populations or used to back a ruler / set of laws in a society.
