Edward is an elderly monk of the Order of St. Benedict. He was originally a commoner and a farmer before taking up the habit, and has two sons. His wife died a number of years ago. He has a working knowledge of Roman Catholicism and still learning the intricacies of the faith when it comes to the life of a monk. Having met Father Tossil he hopes to live up to the ideals of this young priest.
He joined the monastery at Old Minister after he witnessed an exorcism take place in his little community a few miles outside Wilton in Wessex. It was of a hedge wizard who had discovered a ritual for summoning someone knowledgeable about healing & herbs. Unfortunately it was a demon that proceeded to possess the wizard, and caused havoc in the region. It gave prophesies too, and one that said that a local elderly man will meet a monster that was once human, and he or she would help in thwarting its plans for the foreseeable future.
