Greywolf Hound

Anatomy:
Four long legs
Two eyes
Two small ears
Short nose
Thick, medium-length hair

Facial Features:
Eyes in front
Nose is short and close to face

Color:
Both the male and female Greywolf Hound are brown with rare reports of white ones being seen.

Genetics & Reproduction:
Typically loners, Greywolf Hounds only come together during Bay season every two years to breed. The cubs are born early the following Orchid season and stay with their mother for one year before going off on their own.

Growth Rate & Stages:
The cubs grow quickly, reaching their maximum size and sexual maturity at two years of age.

Geographic Origin & Distribution:
Found in the center of the Celestial Forest, east of Baste River in Dragon's Veil, and all throughout the Twilight Woods and Llane Woods. However, reports of sightings from Aelwic, Gewood, and Wagrove give evidence they live in Gloomwood Forest as well.

Dietary Needs & Habits:
These creature are omnivorous in nature and have a voracious appetite. They eat whatever they find and overpower, allowing their diet to consist of berries, Bizing Deer, False Angelfish, Grizzly Prairedogs, Kinkajoo Stallions, people, Polar Addaxes, Quetzal Jackals, Ram Borers, Silver-tailed Darters, Wisteria Quail, and Xanadu Cassowarys. After coming out of hibernation, the Greywolf Hound eats up to fifty pounds of food per day, increasing this amount to 100 pounds per day two months before returning to hibernation.

Biological Cycle:
Although active all Bay, Pine, and Orchid seasons, the Greywolf Hound hibernates during Cherry season using holes that were dug under fallen trees or caves.

1,400 pounds

Uses, Products, & Exploitation:
Hunted for its meat and hide

Intelligence:
Low intelligence, but highly territorial. The Greywolf Hound will attack anything that comes near its den or approaches it while eating.

Perception & Sensory Capabilities:
Even with its short nose, it has an enhanced sense of smell to help it find food.

Names & Aliases:
Humans call them the Greyhound Bear.
Elves know them as Canibu.
Hybrids call them the Greywolf Hound.
