The Song of The Sisters Myth in The Time of the Sisters | World Anvil

The Song of The Sisters

Graceful mother; wise and strong
Father bright; working long
Strange the day some may say
When Fire burned the sea

Rue the day and run away
A day when dreams but live to die
The wealth of nations, burned away
The fires of destiny burn on high

A demonstration, a world to change
The powerful joined them on the range
The pow'r of stars captured in the sphere
The father's dream did persevere

Rue the day and run away
A day when dreams but live to die
The wealth of nations, burned away
The fires of destiny burn on high

A hopeful start the pow'r rose
Something hidden destiny chose
Sudden fire a spear 'cross the bay
Chaos' dance burned through the fray

Rue the day and run away
A day when dreams but live to die
The wealth of nations, burned away
The fires of destiny burn on high

Sisters seven; working long
Truly these have earned the song
Graceful, true, tragedy struck
All the world received their luck

Rue the day and run away
A day when dreams but live to die
The wealth of nations, burned away
The fires of destiny burn on high

Aftermath a family shorn
Pleiades the Corp is born
From the ash a future bright
Humanity's rocket into the night

Rue the day and run away
A day when dreams but live to die
The wealth of nations, burned away
The fires of destiny burn on high

The Song of the Sisters was written sometime in the 2050's by an unknown author. The song was presented at the 15th anniversary celebration of the Pleiades Corporation, held at the grand opening of the first luxury dome of the Luna collective on earth's moon. The song became an instant hit, and dominated the airwaves for several weeks across earth and the early colony operations on Mars and Ganymede. Many attribute this to a heavy push by The Corporation to get the song more airplay in an effort to further advance the "corporate mythology". The song continued to be an anthem of the Pleiades Corporation and, beginning in 2068, was played at the beginning and end of every school day at the, now ubiquitous, Company Schools.
The song faded into history after it ceased to be mandatory in 2098 and became extremely rare, aside from historical documentaries and the occasional corporate function, after 2115.
The most historically significant element of the song is that it is one of very few early sources (prior to the Hostile Takeover of 2060) that mention any detail of the place and nature of the Demonstration, particularly the mention of a bay and a "spear of fire".  Both slightly contradict the official account of the Demonstration, and some claim this as further "proof" that the Demonstration actually took place in a very different location, near Matagorda Bay, nearly 200 kilometers to the Northeast. The complete lack of any remaining structure or other artifacts at the "official" location does lend some minor support to this, and other, claims of an alternate site for the event.
