Izeric Battle Wands

A battle wand is quite simply an Izer crystal on a stick, that's it. But of course, Izer is always incredibly powerful. Different types of wands do different things, and are constantly being invented, but all of these are dreadful weapons in close combat. The archetypal battle wand is tipped with an empty Izer crystals, and slices enemies effortlessly until it fills up with the Ether drained from enemy flesh and blood. All other battle wands rely on filled crystals to expend some type of offensive material. Another common battle wand is filled up with any acidic or corrosive substance. Due to the insulation properties of air, the acid is only released upon contact. Don't use in the rain! The Izer can also be filled with heat, burning enemies upon impact. These types of full battle wands are also torture devices. Battle wands can even dispense disease, or poison, or a combination of these materials.

Global Distribution

Knowledge of the battle wands is wide spread, but only a small fraction of the world's powers have access to it. They are most common in the fiefdoms of the Southern Izerlords. Part of the difficulty in acquiring wands, aside from the Izer itself, is the Ethereal insulator for the socket that holds the crystal. Only silver, air and ice are known insulators at this point in history, making silver the only available material. Consequently silver is increasingly expensive and rare.

Manufacturing

The creation of battle wands is divided into the empty Izer based wands, and the filled wands. To create an acidic wand, firstly attach an Izer crystal to a wand, through a silver socket. Then carefully cold burn the Izer crystal tip, and only the tip, in acid. There is a danger of acid vapor damaging the silver. However if acid starts vaporizing, the Izer is full and should be taken out of the fire.
