Nila

The dwarven architect waited for Nila to occlude the sun to break ground on the town hall, imbuing the structure with the blessing of civilization. This building would stand tall, and help bring the citizens together to a shared future, safe from the ravages of nearby creatures.

The halfling druid bathed in the waters of the Table Lake under the silvery light of Nila, full and bright. The blessings of nature washed over him, and he arose cleansed and refocused on the needs of the Mothers. He would use the power of this night to return the spark of nature to the land polluted by the nearby city.

The lizardfolk sailor lined the crescent Nila up with the focus mounted off the starboard bow - the device let him keep the moon centered and the ship on course through the night.

Geography

Nila is the closest of the moons, and the smallest. While full, its light is bright and silvery. Its orbit coincides closely enough to the equator that it regularly occludes the sun when new, especially in the winter for that hemisphere and more often closer to the equator. It will always appear fairly close to over the equator, making it useful for navigation. Nila is tidally locked to the Terrene, and the near side does not have many visible features. One marking stands out - a noticeable crater at 4 o'clock, with a furrow leading off to the eastern edge.

Fauna & Flora

No one from the Terrene has set foot on Nila, and no one from the Empyrean has revealed any information about it.

History

Nila has long been associated with the Ecologus, the Truth that encompasses Nature and Civilization. The full moon favors nature, and druids often perform rites on these nights. The new moon favors Civilization, and many governmental functions look at the moon occluding the sun as a necessary presence for completing certain functions.
