Circuit Judge

It's always a risk when you send for a judge in one of these towns. Some of the towns will only listen to a vicar from Church of Adalci, and that's usually your best bet. Swear to do better, and like as not you'll avoid the chopping block. Might have some other consequences for your future, sure, but you'll have one.

Other places, you'll get a Circuit Judge from Bonae. That's when you really need someone like me. See, they follow the law - they may lean towards wanting justice and goodness, but it ultimately comes down to what the law says. And there's no one as good as me for helping everyone to agree that what the law says is what will get my client released.

Ladire Dolorian,
Attorney of Iuris

Qualifications

Circuit Judges are ordained clergy in the Church of Bonae . They are generally the newest ordained members, and spend time traveling a circuit before settling into a permanent position. Some are clerics, and attend to their duties while traveling far and wide.

Requirements

To be anointed, the applicant must appear before a panel of Appellates, who give an oral theological exam. Those that pass are given ceremonial robes and swear an oath to uphold law and order.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The robes of office are black and cover the Judge from neck to floor. They have hoods, but these are never raised while presiding in court.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

A Judge accused of breaking any law must face a tribunal of at least three Appellate Judges. If they are judged to have intentionally violated a law, they will be stripped of their position and removed from the church.
