Ognaris

Overview

No less hostile than Brillund, even without dragons, Ognaris holds the harshest terrain in the Realms. From the Og's Spine, to the Great Desert which surrounds the Celestial Seas, to the southern Woad, the terrain of Ognaris has molded its people into a harsh, efficient, and competitive culture. Consisting primarily of Giant- and Goblin-kin, the inhabitants of Ognaris tend to form racially diverse tribes, in which one’s status is determined solely by their utility to the tribe.

Geography

Ognaris is split in two but the largest mountain range in the Realms, the Spine of the World, which runs from the North-West coast to the South-East coast. Along the western edge of the mountain range in the north, the Gobel desert sits between arid steppes and the coast. South of the desert, a series of lakes and rivers water the verdant Forest Rend, home to diverse enclaves of Goblinoids and Giant-kin, including Orcs, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Bugbear, Firbolg, and Goliath. Along the entire eastern edge, a great jungle stretches from the mountains to the coast, and among the jungles many more villages like those in the West exist, each ruled by its own chieftain and tribal traditions.

Population

The most diverse of the seven Realms, Ognaris is home to many races, mostly giant-kin and goblinoids, but also many of the Sylvan races that also dwell in Fernor and Sintaren. The people of Ognaris speak many languages, including Giant, Goblin, Orc, Infernal, Sylvan, and Worg. Some also speak Common or Elven, but the time away from training and hunting required to learn a foreign tongue is rarely available to anyone other than Chieftains and Shamans. For other members of the tribe, life is often brutal and short, and the thing most hoped for is a glorious death. Ancestry:
