The Sundered Shores

The gods are at war.   As the celestial lords and ladies vie for supremacy following the slaying of Prota, the first and father of all of the other deities, the land below them suffers. Over centuries the gods have fought, the world beneath has suffered untold hardships; drought, flood, pestilence and devastating natural disasters. The mighty nations that once dominated the land have been shattered, their people scattered and vast swathes of once habitable land has been blighted beyond all recognition by the violence of the celestials.   The collapse of the mortal empires has led to a power vacuum on the material plane as well, with the city states and isolated communities that have survived beginning to eye up the lands, ruins and ancient riches of their forefathers, with some seeking to cooperate and some to reinstate their glory of old.   Meanwhile, creatures from other realms of existence also view the material plane and its peoples with envious eyes, and look to exploit the great distraction the celestials have created for themselves to move in and establish a foothold where they dared not before.
