The Greenzone
Home of the Pacamin
"As I traveled around the base of the mountain, the first thing I noticed was the smell, sweet and earthy. The further I went, the stronger it became. After traveling for about half an hour around the mountain, finally the cause of the smell came into view: a vast green field full of tall sheep-like people tending it. Truck-beds full of manure were being distributed across the land by what looked like a hundred workers. I later learned they called this land their "Green Zone" and planned to help bring the land back to life by spreading their manure."From the journal of Pled Thonkon, 2238
Geography
The Green Zone is characterized by its vast rolling hills of healthy green grass encompassing the hundreds of miles of large valleys nestled between the Paca Mountains. Flowing through the Green Zone is the King's River, connecting the Green Zone with Kingland to the North.
Fauna & Flora
After the apocalypse, the Green Zone was mostly barren other than the few plants along the banks of King's River. However, around 2230, a large community of Pacamin settled in the area. Over the next 85 years, the Pacamin made a huge effort to spread their fertilizing manure across the valleys, resulting in the lush landscape of today.
Now reborn due to the efforts of the Pacamin, the Green Zone is home to a huge amount of flora and fauna. Many Pacamin explorers have brought helpful animals and plants to the Green Zone, resulting in a new and thriving ecosystem.
Many varieties of flying animals have made the Green Zone their home, for at least part of the year. They too bring new seeds to the Green Zone, resulting in floral surprises for the local farmers and land caretakers.
Lately, an invasive species of poison weed has begun to spread from the south of the Green Zone. Pacamin land caretakers are battling the plant, but unless new methods are found to deal with it, the poison weeds threaten to overtake the banks of King's River.
Natural Resources
The Pacamin are very protective of their relatively young tree fields and do not export lumber. However, the vast fields of the Green Zone are now full of all sorts of vegetables and helpful plant life. Additionally, large herds of grazing animals call the Green Zone their home and the King's River is abundant with healthy fish.
