The Statue on the Wall

The third part of a three-part series called ANIMA CRISTALLUM. It's about the world imbued with magic, strange beings, and a material containing untold power called Cristallum, and takes place after a being made of Cristallum broke out of Mt Everest and caused the apocalypse.   TOYHOU.SE PAGE: https://toyhou.se/~world/17861.anima-cristallum   In 2015, a brilliant crystal wing burst out of Mt Everest.   That wing curled around the mountain and ripped it apart, exposing a shrieking, angry being made of the same crystal that composed the wing. The crystal was like a prism, refracting the light from the moon and sun and fraying it out in front of it in blazing glory. It was a massive, terrifying creature with a large maw and two wings that spanned thousands of meters.   This thing dragged itself out of the hollow where the mountain was, its body tapering into a long appendage similar to an umbilical cord that was buried deep in the earth. It wreaked havoc on the world, destroying whole countries and ending billions of lives. no region was untouched.   The umbilical cord continued to grow.   Then one day in 2020, it flew. Despite being tied down by the cord, it spread its monstrous wings and flew. It flew higher and higher until it was over Kansas when the US sent in a missile.   The missile struck it in the left wing, shattering it into a billion pieces. It roared in pain as it fell to the earth, buried by sand and dirt.   It hasn't been active since.   But the shards of its wings? That's another story.
