Waning Moonblade of House Thekalyn
Ancient as the Houses themselves, the fey Moonblades are artifacts of immense power and cultural importance to the elves. Tradition dictates each Lord of The Forest Council name a defender of the House, and to that defender is gifted a Moonblade. Typically the heir to the House, the wielder of the Moonblade is to dedicate themselves to the protection of their House and it's interests, until such a times as they take the Lordship themselves and another defender is chosen.
The Waning Moonblade of House Thekalyn is rare, in that it is one of a pair. With it's twin, the Waxing Moonblade, it has been passed down to pairs of defenders through the Thekalyn lines since the establishment of The Forest Council with the end of the War of the Seldarine, more than 23,000 years ago. Similarly rare in elven society, the Thekalyn House is uncommonly blessed with the number of twins in it's line, and thus the Mooblades have often been gifted to the families heir and the sibling being groomed for their right-hand position (though sometimes the second blade may be gifted to a cousin if there is no twin or second child)
A pair of magical rapiers, each blade contains an almost-sentient magical essence that must deem the wielder worthy before bonding with them through a special ritual, but once a bond has formed the blades magic evolves and deepens. With each successful bond a rune may appear on the blade, signifying a new magical property. At the current time, the Waning Moonblade displays 13 such runes, each conveying magic of varying strengths and usefulness. Rumoured properties of the Waning Moonblade include incredible strength and sharpness, the ability to shed magical light to blind enemies, and even the ability to summon spirits to aid you in combat.
Not much is known of the whereabouts of the Waning Moonblade since the untimely death of it's last wielder, though it is expected Lady Ryo Thekalyn, Marquess of the Northern Caellyndor Region, the current heir to House Thekalyn will take up the mantle of defender when she returns to Oakgrove from her sightseeing trip.
