The Vandals
Hell on Wheels
Rani, who had fallen asleep in
HEADspace doing homework, was startled awake by a mysterious young woman. Rani mostly forgot her, like a dream, because she had overslept and was running late to her meeting with the
Vandals Vendetta had called. Her father,
Devendra 'Dev' Rao also needed her to help him fix some security drones. Rani blew him off to get suited up, and meet up with the Vandals as
Kinetic.
The team met up on a rooftop near Finley St Station, where
Joni Whelan and Yeti Boy had arrived first. Before the rest of the team showed up, Yeti Boy tried to rile up Big Sis by provoking her to challenge Vendetta's leadership. Disrupter and Kinetic both showed up, and after some light banter Vendetta appeared. She explained to the team how she had spoken with
Dutch earlier, about a crane operator who needed their help. The worker, Jami Pierce, was being targeted by the
Steel Panthers and had gone into hiding. Dutch learned that she had been working on
Twice Lucky, a pleasure building run by
The Syndicate, and figured Pierce must have come across some dirt on one of their enforcers. Dutch knows from his investigations that the Steel Panthers are often called in to do dirty jobs the Syndicate doesn't want to be publicly connected to.
Vendetta explained to the team that Pierce was looking to get out of
Edge City and was meeting some smugglers at Finley St. What she didn't know, is that the Syndicate controls human trafficking in the Canyons and she was walking into a trap. Dutch hoped that the Vandals could intercept, and get her to safety.
The Vandals arrived at the meet up just as everything kicked off. A whole squad of Steel Panthers, led by
Calamity was already there, moving in to capture Pierce. Big Sis and Yeti Boy assaulted the biker head on, creating an opening for their teammates to go after Pierce. The siblings used the city itself as a weapon, with Big Sis ripping marquis signs off walls, and Yeti Boy hurling a dumpster through a group of bikers and into a restaurant.
The rest of team was forced to chase after
Calamity, who had captured Pierce and was escaping through the market on her custom cycle. Vendetta managed to slow her with her grappling gun and a surprise attack, but was thrown from the bike and into a streetlight. Kinetic used her super agility and free running skills but was falling behind Calamity, when Disruptr helped her by using a stolen motorcycle as a launching pad to give the energy absorbing hero a boost.
Kinetic was able to get ahead of the Road Captain, swoop in on a severed awning cable and rescue Jami Pierce. Calamity threatened retaliation before making an explosive getaway.
The Vandals regrouped and brought Pierce back to the secret break room behind garage 2 of
Dutch's Auto Exotic. While Dutch broke out the med kit and checked out Pierce, the Vandals celebrated their victory.
