Hayoon Sun (a.k.a. Haylee)
Hayoon 'Hayleigh' Sun, aka Mercy, is a student at the Saint Anne Orphanage and School, a devout Illuminate of the Church of the Golden Sun, and former best friend of Charity Cruce. When Charity, aka Vendetta , was ousted from her super team the Nightstalkers she found herself torn between the friendship she has relied on for so long and the mission she had dedicated herself to without question.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Mercy is surprisingly strong for her small frame. Although she is the weakest and smallest of the Nightstalkers, through pure force of will she endures the same training the strongest does.
This leaves her more than capable of dispatching most of the thugs and vermin the Nightstalkers encounter during their missions. Her teacher, the Mother Superior, thinks she is holding herself back due to her hesitence to do harm to others, even those who murder her without a thought.
Identifying Characteristics
Mercy has a notch cut out of her left ear from a knife fight she broke up between students at the school. The injury never quite healed properly, and reminds her daily to never turn her back on an injured foe, no matter how small they are.
Special abilities
Mercy is easily the weakest combatant of the team, but is not completely ineffective due to her touch telepathy which works even through armor and clothes. This allows her to not only read the thoughts of her foes, but also inject commands, and even used to fully paralyze them. These only last minutes after the touch however, and cannot be used to enslave villians, as much as the Mother Superior would enjoy that weapon.
Specialized Equipment
Unlike her team, Mercy fights without weapons, relying on incredible reflexes and speed in combat. She can easily cover the distance before an assailant can get a shot off, applying her touch telepathy to disable foes, or turn them against their own.

Personal history
Hayoon Sun was found waiting in the rain on the steps of the Saint Anne Orphanage and School at the age of 9, with two younger brothers holding her hands. Thrust into the chaos of the school, she found herself at a loss on how to navigate the prison like nature of the place, fraught with bullies looking to prop themselves on the new outsiders. The Sisters gave her the name 'Hayleigh', hoping it would help her fit in despite her broken english and ignorance of the culture of Edge City.
She was willing to take the abuse herself, but soon found herself being beaten by a group of larger boys who had attempted to rob her brothers of their few possessions. The boys were suddenly beaten down by two girls not much older than Hayoon herself, Amara and Charity. The two took her under their wings, and before long they became unseparable.
Her friends devout Illuminates, Hayoon found great comfort in the light and the teachings of the Church. She soon had the admiration of both the Sisters and the other students for the gentle kindness and generosity she showed all. But she had little patience for the abuse she had suffered when she came to the school. The trio became a sort of police force, there to mediate disputes that the Sister ought not know about, and punish injustices that were beyond the administrations reach.
As she grew older, and was better able to lead by example rather by force, she found her friends drifting away. She would often find the two missing from their bunks, returning with bruises and cuts in the early morning, dismissing her concern with few answers. But during the difficult time when her Shifted abilities manifested, her friends brought her to the catacombs to give her some time and distance before wading back into the chaos of the school. They even managed to hide her from the Mother Superior, who had been training them to eventually take the mantle of Nightstalkers. Neither of her friends thought she could survive the training, being too kind and soft for the brutality they endured nightly.
But the Mother Superior had had her eye on Hayoon since the day she had arrived at the school.

Family Ties
Hayoon and her two brothers Jihoon (James) and Junseok (John) came from parents deeply indebted to the Las Plagas cartel. The father was a drug dealer who was addicted to his own product, and the mother a gambling addict. When payment came due, the pair tried to sell their children to the cartel and fled town when that failed. This is how the trio found their way to the doorstep of the Saint Anne Orphanage and School, as neither the police nor the neighbors had any interest in handling children children who couldn't even speak English.
