Celestial Glass

Celestial Glass is a naturally occurring, but rare, crystal found in the remote northern regions of the Sparks. Legend holds that the deposits of crystal are remnants of a divine weapon, broken in battle, or sometimes it is the shards of a vessel that held the first blood of life, discarded after the work of the gods was complete. Regardless of its true origin, the crystal holds significant magical properties. When untouched, Celestial Glass emits a constant heat, hovering around 130 degrees Fahrenheit. This trait has created a unique biosphere in the frigid north, much like hot springs or volcanic activity have been known to do in other regions of the world, and the mine of Celestial Glass has supported the survival of life around it for millennia.   After Celestial Glass has been mined, it maintains a warm, faintly yellow-tinted glow of light, creating a fragile but constant light source. Celestial Glass is a valuable commodity, especially desired by the elite of the world to use in palaces and government centers for decorative lighting. An entire industry has been developed around the carving and cutting of Celestial Glass into delicate artisan lamps, and constant research is being done to preserve the heat of Celestial Glass after it has been separated from the source.   The region surrounding the Celestial Glass deposit depends on its mining and trade for survival. A large coastal port to export the mineral around the world has flourished amidst the ice floes of the north, and artisans from around the world have made the trip to the area to make their fortune in Celestial Glass, though it takes decades of training to be considered a master in the material. The mining of Celestial Glass is also highly regulated, and the local government has been known to hold back a permit's approval for years until full studies have been done to determine the ecological impact of the crystal's removal from the area.

This glass sounds beautiful, I like the little detail on what it's used for and who by. Great article :)

You should check out the The 5 Shudake, if you want of course.
