The Span of Amaranth

Created by

The Span of Amaranth is an epic space fantasy universe about escaping the past and finding hope beneath the weight of slowly dying empires. When the old ways meet their obvious ends, do we work to perpetuate and recreate those aged systems, or do we work towards something new?   The arm of space known as the Span of Amaranth consists of five populated words: Megara, Enmerkar, Hallstatt, Ashoka, and Nephrite. The homeworlds of now dead or dying empires, millennia old and extremely powerful at their height, sit hauntingly quiet. Scattered populations make their lives among the growing ruins of the old ways. It is a strange, dark, and mysterious time to be an inhabitant of the Span.   Megara was once home to the endless markets of the Old Empire of Nisos, First of the Interstellars. Now, it sits quiet and forgotten amidst the ever-increasing foliage of the former frontier jungles.   Enmerkar, in its entirety, acts still as the stellar planofactorum of the Grand Construction of Uruk, First of the Listless. Ever operating, the aged machines and swift automata build, plan, and write ceaselessly for the benefit of a long dead civilization.   Hallstatt is home to bountiful harvests of the Cult of Strettweg, Fourth of the Interstellars. A planet created to feed the universe, Hallstatt is farmland without end inhabited by the remaining population of its caretakers.   Ashoka is, in all its strange bureaucracy, the Grand Library of the Kalingan Plenipotentiares, Second of the Listless. What knowledge can be found within its infinite shelves and boundless tomes?   Nephrite, strangest and quietest of all, is the planetary vault of the Council of Luzon, Third of the Interstellars. The Council’s trophy wardens still patrol, ever vigilant against those who would steal from the glory of the elders.
