Worldember 2020 - Pledgey McPledgeFace

My blood has a natural aversion to small and achievable goals. I can't imagine any of my ancestor's advisors daring to ask their imperial Karr whether his goal was worthy and achievable, when he vowed to invade Kredashmi and fight dragons. I doubt it. I guess they liked the way that their heads looked, balanced so prettily on their necks.
— Chazley Dunheuvelin
This will be my first Worldember, and if it goes half as well as NaNoWriMo 2020 has, then this will be a spectacular failure. Nonetheless, I still want to give it a go.
I, Brinsmead, pledge to write 10,000 words during December 2020.
— Brinsmead, sceptically

Writing Goals:

  • Cure of the Faint-Hearted Duchess, Kredashmi (Item)
  • Shadow Sign, Raskvaeric (Language)
  • Rykfontein, Kredashmi (City)
  • Tiaan Senyavin, Kredashmi (Character)
  • Guiding Stars, Lormont (Religion)
  • The Chronicle of the Star-Chosen, Lormont (Document)
  • The Crypt of Ancestors, Lormont (Building)
  • The Torq of Saint Arkadiusz, Raskvaeric (Item)
  • Dragon Scales, Kredashmi (Material)
  • The Heart of the Phoenix, Raskvaeric (Item)
  • SkinWalkers, Versarna (Ethnicty)
  • The Festival of Flame and Pleanty, Kredashmi (Tradition)
  • Write about an influential woman in your world and what they achieved (Character)
I've not got a huge ammount of ideas at the moment. Any ideas anyone can throw at me will be hugely appreciated; otherwise, I will be raiding previous Summer Camp prompt ideas! :D

I absolutely love the opening quote xD Good luck to you at all the failing! I hope you kick butts in December, but if you don't, at least you will still have your pretty head on your even prettier neck!! :D

Thank you, Tris! Failing is honestly my raison d'etre in 2020, but at least my head is still screwed on. XD

Chazley is the best at quotes.   Good luck! <3

I can just imagine some long-suffering friend or relation rolling his eyes yet again when Chazley uttered this. Good luck to you too!

10,000 words add up faster than you think.

I hope so! I've been struggling with writers block for a few months now, but Summer Camp did help with that.

I also love the opening quote. WorldEmber is not the same as NaNoWriMo though. It's a lot less words so it should be easier to achieve this goal. Good luck!

Thank you! I guess 10,000 words seems overwhelming to look at, but it's not too bad if you break it down.

Thank you so much! I'm really excited to write about Shadow Sign, too. I'm learning British Sign Language (I'm currently studying for my Level 3 qualification), so that has definitely inspired me.

I used to know some BSL through charity work and my research in inclusiveness. It is truly a wonderful language and I would love to have the opportunity to develop it further one day. I love seeing fantasy sign languages in worlds, but I haven't seen many that have been developed beyond a few simple words and with little or no concepts. You'll have to message me when the article is complete so I can have a look :)

Good luck, Cait. I like buildings so I'd love to read about your Crypt of Ancestors :-)
