The Sunland Rebellion Military Conflict in The Somer Plate | World Anvil

The Sunland Rebellion

In year 652, the Sunland Herald aimed to expand their territory. Starting from their seat in the capital of the Salak region, Umbrayl, the Vvakol Council member took over vast lands populated by farmers and other lowfolk. They would tax the lowfolk heavily, leaving them penniless for a long time after. They would also claim cattle, crops, and any able-bodied person for themself, to fill their coffers and armies. It would take a very long time for the victimized areas to recover; some still haven't quite managed.   Eventually, the Sunland Herald and their troops reached the Grimroads Duke's front step at the city of Okorremm. There, they easily entered past the first ring-wall, and with only a little bit of resistance, the second, and then the third. Then came the shock of being suddenly overrun by the Grimroads Duke's full forces, with the whole of the Grimsguard bearing down on them. The Sunland Herald and their forces turned to flee after realizing that they stood no chance against the highly trained Grimsguard, but were met with barred gates standing in their way. Boiling tar was poured onto those trying to breach the gates, and arrows rained down from the top of the walls, easily hitting the army in rebellion red, avoiding the green and black of the Grimsguard. The Sunland Heralds forces were completely annihilated, and the Herald themself was deeply wounded and captured.   The Sunland Herald would learn that the Grimroads Duke had allowed them to take her lands so easily on purpose, biding her time and gathering her forces in Okorremm in preparation for the Sunland Herald's arrival. The Herald and their forces were also allowed inside the ring walls to trap them.   The Sunland Herald were sentenced to eternal captivity and were sealed within a deep mountain cave, where they are to spend the rest of the existence of the world, alone, with nothing but their own thoughts for company.
