Anomal Decay

Anomal Decay is a rare condition originating from the Rift. Mostly non-lethal, the condition alters certain parts of the body to be dark purple in appearance, dusty in texture, and sometimes appear as if part of the infected area is transparent.
Those who have the condition cannot spread it, and those that carry it (Rift anomalies) are not visibly affected by it.

Transmission & Vectors

Anomal Decay can be transmitted through the air, but it is less likely to infect mobile beings that way. It moves best with physical contact, such as handshakes, games, and grabbing one's hand to pull them.
Those with Anomal Decay cannot infect others.

Symptoms

Non-lethal (usually) changes in the victim's body persist. While the whole body gets infected, certain parts (usually on the appendages) gain a purple-to-black complexion and the skin/fur/feathers/scales becomes ashy or dusty in texture.
Abnormal colors that must be reviewed by a medical professional after initial diagnosis include bright oranges, yellows, greens, or cyans.

Treatment

Physical therapy can be offered to help the victim adjust to their new weakness.
Unfortunately, abnormal coloring can usually calls for amputation, as a brightly colored infection usually means the infection is toxic or radioactive.

Prevention

The easiest way is to wash up after interacting with a new Rift anomally, and to immediately call for a Rift-Stitcher to take care of the new Outworlder.

Epidemiology

Anomal Decay usually comes from a being that has entered from The Rift. While the being that enters does not get infected themself, any who interact immediately are at risk of infection. From there, the decay from move from being to being, and close groups of Scraps can become infected.

Cultural Reception

Those that experience Anomal Decay are usually avoided and stared at, especially by children or newcomers. Despite the fact that those infected cannot transmit the condition, others usually avoid physical contact with them.
Beings that suffer from Anomal Decay are usually placed in charge of handling Rift beings, or are forced to work in out-of-sight positions.
