OOC FAQ in The Skyrunner Tribe | World Anvil

OOC FAQ

  • Is there an application to join?

We do not require a written application to join the guild. Instead, we have a series of 3-4 questions that we ask you to get a better idea of what you are looking for in a guild and in a story for your character. If we all agree that you'll be a good fit we then set up an IC Introduction on a non-event night. During this introduction of your character, we set up a time, place and reason for their meeting as well as go over any pre-existing backstory you might want to add in for flavor, and then start the intro RP. Unless there are circumstances where your character is in lore a blood-born member of the tribe your character will be titled as an Ally. For more information on Allies see: Farflier/Unblooded/Ally

  • What is your schedule like?

We usually RP in the evenings and on weekends and while we do try to keep things as short and punchy as possible our events usually run Three Hours. Event days are Monday and Wednesday at 7pm server (PT). For more information on schedules see: New Comer's Information

  • I cannot make one of the Campaign Events, or I might be late

Because this guild and story is structured so heavily around a small community of highly impactful players we do have an attendance policy that you can view in the Code of Conduct and RP Pillars page. That being said we do understand that work, family, and other life activities do take place which can cause players to miss a day, possibly a few event days in a row, or be late to events. If this is going to be the case we ask that players get with a member of the leadership team as soon as possible to work out an IC reason why your character might be missing. This is critically important for story continuity and can provide wonderful IC story opportunities!

  • Are there Restrictions on Travel Times?

Yes! We believe in injecting our RP with a fair bit of realism which means that in addition to things like injury, illness, and the need for supplies we also have set in place travel times. You can find out more about them in our Code of Conduct and RP Pillars article in the RP Pillars section. This also puts a restriction on the use of portals within our gaming style. Portals of all kinds either require heavy regents and power to create, are localized to main nexus point convergence and main cities, or the need to hire a portal master for an IC cost.

  • Is Discord required?

Yes! Not only do we use Discord Voice during events to quickly give out critical information to keep events moving Discord is our main communication hub. Instead of filling our the In Game calendar or post up notifications in the message of the day we post all of our info in Discord. It's where we corrdinate RP meetings, give announcements about events or additional meetings, share character stories and much more. We do require players to join the Discord Server.

  • Are there restrictions on Classes or Races?

There are no OOC restrictions on Classes or Races. Meaning if you have an alt that you want to place into the guild to play in your downtime or what have you by all means go ahead and do so. However, there is a restriction ICly speaking. If you roll up with a DK, a Demon Hunter, or a Warlock and expect them to become part of the tribe you can expect more than a little IC resistance. Races are also more of an IC restriction as we do expect others of different races to eventually ICly conform to a tauren lifestyle and culture in addition to having sufficient motivation to remain with a tauren tribe. For more information on this see: IC FAQ

  • Are there Officer Positions Available?

There are some Officer Positions available but we do not, nor will we ever, just hand them to new players. If you wish to become an officer you must prove yourself dedicated, invested, and willing to pitch in above and beyond the usual player on a consistent basis. You can let members of the Leadership Team know that you want to become an Officer in which case we will speak with you, or if the need arises we may approach you unannounced to get your opinion on the matter.

  • How much Agency do I have as a Player?

This guild is designed around the phrase 'You get out what you put in'. That means that you as a player are encouraged to be as invested as you may wish and as active as you may wish. The Storytellers/DMs and Leadership Team are here to serve your story and your interests but that means that you have to come up and talk with us. Much like WoW Quest Givers, you have to click on us to get things to do. Otherwise, we assume that you are comfortable with where you are in your character's story.

You also have a lot of freedom within a story. We like to encourage players to recognize their character's strengths and choices within the game world and to take actions that make sense for their character. Not all encounters have to be to beat up the bad guy, what if someone were to talk to them instead and use phycology to get at their deepest fears? Want to add a building to the village map? Not a problem! Want to propose a different Prestige Class that you think can't be rolled into one of the existing ones? Approach us and ask! The Storytellers/DMs are hyper-focused on allowing characters the room to act as they would on a narrative level while they control the setting and environment.

  • What Server do you play on?

The Skyrunner Tribe is on the Wyrmrest Accord server. We do require that members of the guild have their avatars on WRA and join the guild. We follow Server time whenever we talk about events or meeting times. For more information on schedules see: New Comer's Information

  • Is there a limit on Active Members? What does your community activity look like?

Yes! We are a small guild designed around a maximum of 20 players though prefer to keep our numbers as low as 15. This is a strategic choice that allows us as storytellers to really focus down on the individual player character and get in-depth stories with a much greater connection. We place a high emphasis on player engagement and we want each person to feel as though their character, choices, and actions matter within our story and this is only achieved in small groups.

Our player engagement is very high. Due to the nature of how we tell stories is it critical that each player character comes to as many events as possible as well as engages in downtime RP either in-game or in the community discord. For more information on Attendance see: Code of Conduct and RP Pillars

  • How involved with the general server community of RP guilds are you?

RPing in open events such as the Dance of the Earthmother, open markets, seasonal/holiday events, and the like is incredibly difficult for this guild. The emphasis that we put on Travel Times means that it can take weeks to reach specific locations and the same amount to return back to our campaign. We also have story campaigns that are run almost entirely through Character Choice and action. This means that if characters would not logically choose to leave in the middle of an ongoing story arc then the guild is likely not going to participate.

  • Are there Restrictions on IC Mounts?

For Ground Mounts: Nope not at all. So long as it fits with your character, isn't something the tribe would kill on sight (think warlock/demon/bug things) or a sentient creature (think Gronling) we should be good. We don't use Ground Mounts too often, perhaps once every few months though so keep that in mind.

For Flying Mounts: Yes! We are a wyvern based guild, meaning, that unless you have a very good IC reason we expect you to fly a wyvern mount. Only Windwarrior's and above can ride armored wyverns while everyone below that rank can ride any non-armored wyvern of your choice. If you have not taken your Judgment of the Wyverns Rite you will be provided a wyvern from The Cloudlord Pride to use for travel from event to event and even in combat.

  • Do you have limitations on Mogs?

Typically no we do not. So long as the mog matches your character's power scale, history, and general character personality we're pretty fine with most mogs. Wielding Named Weapons is almost always a hard no in our case and we do expect you to have a reasonable understanding of how expensive armor is in a medieval fantasy setting like this. Meaning running around with thirteen different armor mogs likely is going to turn more than a few heads. It is important to remember that changing your mog can be a wonderful IC experience and we do offer RP Quests individualized per player character to gain new weapons and armor that also can tie into the D20 System.

The only restriction would be the use of the Tauren Heritage Armor Totem. This serves as the IC lore model for the Skyrunner Totem which is a legendary piece of tribal lore and life. All other totems are highly encouraged.

  • What Classes/Roles are you looking for?

Right now the guild is quite heavy on druids so we would like to focus on other classes such as warrior, priest/paladin, shaman, and hunters! While druids are really versatile and amazing and we will accept more if they are right for the guild we also want to explore various aspects of wow lore and the range of personalities and abilities that come from other classes and builds.
