The Vessel's Pendant

Summary

"The Vessel's Pendant" is one of the many stories about The Holy Vessel and the founding of The Church. this story deals with a pendant that The Vessel carried with her while she was spreading the word of god through put the region.   Through out most of the tale it is said that The Vessel is very attached to this pendant stating it is a gift from god. it can be used to heal the sick, banish darkness, and purge evil from the hearts of man. Until at one point The Pendant is given to a sickly child who cannot live without being in possession of it.   The legend itself is used by The Church to teach that at times it necessary to sacrifice something we hold dear in order to help our fellow man.

Historical Basis

The Holy Vessel did indeed wear a pendent during her journey as she performed her many miracles but the pendent itself was more or less a normal pendant with the only mention of it having powers being this one. Though some historical scholars believe that the pendant protected the The Holy Vessel from harm an that by giving it away lead to her death during the final assault by The Army of Heretics.

The story of "The Vessel's Pendant" is one of the first stories small children hear from their parents or local church. so the spread of the legend fallows that of The Church.

Variations & Mutation

There are a few variations to the myth of The Pendant most having to do with the powers that the pendent holds and some of the fancier details of the story. Many Bard and traveling troupe tell this myth in order to entertain small children so the story can not be the stuffy story of The Church

many famous painters and sculptors have made their own depiction of the legend to varying degrees of drama and detail the most famous depiction being the stain glass depiction in The Central Church.
