The Old Barracks

The Old Barracks was once named Pitelion's Pride and was the headquarters for Pitelion's Army in Lukrar, until it was abandoned following the death of Ratsuik and the subsequent disappearance of the representatives of Pitelion. It was replaced by a new compound which now rests on the very edge of modern Lukrar known as Redemption Point.   It is a walled compound made of 5 large stone buildings arranged in a pentagon shape. Two of the buildings were meant to be sleeping quarters, one was an armory, one was an administrative building, and the last was the entrance to a tomb where soldiers that proved their worth in battle were interred. However, since being abandoned, they have become a hub for criminal and black market activity, as well as a pseudo base of operations for the representative of Gubrilion, Goddess of the Forsaken.   The Old Barracks were originally built on the outer limits of Lukrar when it was first founded, quite far away from the city center where other prominent buildings, such as Tirelian's Spire, were built. By the time Ratsuik fell in battle, the city had expanded to nearly completely surround the Old Barracks, and now the city has grown around them so that they rest in the center of the city's most impoverished district. Most of the buildings above ground have been modified to serve as a marketplace for goods, both scavenged and stolen, and this infrastructure expands down into the old crypts, with more ill-obtained goods and services being found deep within the tunnels. The bodies in the crypt were moved when the compound was first abandoned, so there is little to worry about in terms of danger in the upper levels, but in the process of expanding the tunnels, a hole was knocked into the old catacombs beneath the city. They now serve as the best known entrance to the catacombs beneath the city, and if you wander too far from the mainstream traders above, you risk getting lost in them forever.
