Church of Lezheng

The Church of Lezheng are an underground group of religious worshipers that pay tribute to Kikerion of the Pentide, Goddess of Fertility. Despite worshiping the same goddess as the Kikerion Cooperative, they exist in secret and are thought to have been wiped out years ago. The Church of Lezheng specifically believe that the representatives of Kikerion, and the Kikerion Cooperative by association, do not truly represent the will of Kikerion. This belief is rooted in a split that occurred in the two organizations during the appointment of the 13th representative of Kikerion due to the rise of false representatives.   In the wake of the death of Ratsuik and the subsequent disappearance of the representatives of Pitelion, there were a series of military losses resulting in a large number of casualties and a loss of large amounts of fertile and arable land. This combination led to a very rough couple of years due to a lack of available food and an impaired work force. In the midst of this, the 12th representative of Kikerion passed away and multiple people came forth claiming to have been given visions by Kikerion marking them as the new representatives. Of the people claiming the visions, only two were capable of performing the miracles expected of a true representative. The first was Decheng, a high ranking farm owner in the Kikerion Cooperative, who performed the miracle of walking into the forest and returning with an undiscovered plant that had powerful healing properties, which mirrored the original miracle performed by Teodon of the Five Heroes. Initially, this was accepted as proof for Dechang's claim to being the representative, but shortly afterward, word began to spread of a wandering healer roaming around the rural parts of Shindus. That traveler was Lezheng. He granted the starving populations bountiful harvests and healed their wounded, even restoring lost limbs in some of the more extreme instances.   Dechang was a native to Lukrar, the capital of Shindus, and had close ties with the other representatives and leaders of the nation, so following his miracle, he was quickly inducted as the new representative. Lezheng's miracles were slow but widespread, so by the time word of his miracles spread to Lukrar the other representatives, Dechang had already solidified his position among their ranks, so there was a refusal to acknowledge Lezheng as a true representative. His actions garnered him large amounts of support in rural communities who were more separated from the affairs in Lukrar. Eventually, calls to remove Dechang and accept Lezheng as the true representative of Kikerion erupted from the countryside and eventually escalated to a full blown civil war when they were not answered.   This conflict ended with the forces that directly supported Lezheng were defeated and Lezheng was killed in battle, but it left a strong divide between the people of Shindus that still remains to this day. Symbols and references to Lezheng were suppressed or removed by force, but small sects of soldiers that fought by his side continued to spread word of his role as the true representative and undermine the power of the Kikerion Cooperative, which they believed had become corrupt. They have attempted multiple times over the centuries to stage further rebellions to overthrow the Cooperative, but all of them have been crushed. It has been nearly a century since the last major insurgence failed, but it is believed that there are still small groups spreading this belief, as the name Lezheng never fades and new materials describing the corruption of the Cooperative are still circulating.
