The Northern Fae
The Northern Fae are well known for the fanciful cuisine that is effected by their magic and their magical realm. Their most well known export to the human realm of the Shifting Isles is umber steak. This succulent meat is derived from the umberhorn, a magical cow-like species native to the Fae realm. Cultivated for their meat, and also for their purple leather, they are raised for consumption, and not as beasts of burden.
Originally the meat was a delicacy known only to the Northern Fae, however since friendly negotiations and sometimes inter-marriage occur in this era, the delicacy has become known outside of the realm. Umber steak is well sought after in the capital of The Shifting Isles, and average villagers can only dream of tasting its succulent taste.
But The Northern Fae are also talented craftsman and have created many luxuries that are popular outside the realm, whether in the capital or the hidden Sanctuary Village (one of their allies). The leather of the umberhorn makes for strong leather, even after sigils and designs have been carved into it. And the Fae wine that the wineries of the realm have cultivated are served only at the most luxurious balls or the sacred holidays.
In terms of elemental alignment, The Northern Fae represent autumn. They get along with Eastern and Western Fae, but often war with the Southern Fae, who represent the element of winter. Recent attempts have been made for a truce, but no negotiations have succeeded.
I only serve the most highest grade of cuisine at my balls. Thus only Fae wine and umberhorn meat will do!- Queen Camille, consort of King Ronan
My armor is made from umberhorn leather. My mother wore it when she was my age, and her mother before that. - Siofra Heffernan
