The Council of Wurzeldorf

The council of Wurzeldorf is the group of representatives that governs the city. There is one representative from each of the six heritages of Wurzeldorf: Humans, elves, halflings, gnomes, draconians, and dwarves.

Responsibilities

The council members are the government of the city, and as such they have responsibility for anything concerning the city and its people. Each council member focuses particularly on one set of responsibilities for the sake of practicality, but they are all equally responsible for each.

Law

The council is responsible for writing the laws, and making sure the people follow them. This includes them settling legal disputes between members of the population. The council acts as both jury and judge. If the council casts votes and ends in a stalemate, the captain of the guard will be asked to cast a tie breaker vote.

It's the council's responsibility to make sure the economy of Wurzeldorf is thriving. The regulation of taxes, controlling the use of natural resources, welfare, salvaging, and dealing with both city owned and privately owned businesses are some of the responsibilities that falls into this category.

City Expansion

The city must expand with the growth of its population. Where new houses or workshops can be set up, where to place new defenses, setting up new villages, and what buildings to demolish are things that must be chosen intelligently for the city to function as ideally as possible.

Culture

The cogs in the machine only turns if they're motivated. A city won't function if the people aren't happy. Public art, music, festivals, and other events are great tools for making Wurzeldorf a city people want to live in.

Only through knowledge can we avoid repeating past mistakes, and only through knowledge can we gain the tools to forge a better future. The council is responsible for making sure the population is educated, sending out exploration teams to learn about the world outside the city, and funding important research.
