Favionus
Defences
Built on a coastal isle with high cliffs, Favionus has many defenses worthy of a capital city. The ocean side of the island is dominated by a high plateau, with rugged cliffs preventing ships from effectively being able to assail the island. On the land side a large natural channel prevents land based assault, and walls have been constructed to prevent amphibious assaults.
Infrastructure
The of Korth has an ancient city wall surrounding it, a great aqueduct bridge supplying it with water, and an effective sewage system. All of these constructions rely on knowledge developed in the ancient empire of Alkeemia, and have been lost to the depths of time.
History
The city of Favionus was founded by the Alkeemian empire in the depths of the past, as a southern port city garrison. The city was the cite of a major battle during the early stages of the War of the Fallen empire, whereby the city's garrison was mostly wiped out. This, however, prevented the city from being attacked in the more devastating later stages of the war. Favionus was however hit by the Spellstorm that was created in the battle of the elemental storm. No history was recorded of this storm, but it is said to have lasted for 100 years, when the island was continually shrouded in mist and lightning continually hit the city's high plateau. The city of 100000 was likely abandoned during the spellstorm, with groups clinging to survival in the lower city or in the city's sewers. The city remained sparsely populated for millennia after the spellstorm, but reemerged as a major city in the end of the period known as the Lost Years. the year 52512, when the Favionan republic was established, is generally considered the end of the Lost Years and the beginning of the Years of the Wall. The Republic has since been replaced by a monarchy, and archeologists claim that the city's population has recently expanded to exceed its size in the Alkeemian empire. Favionus is considered to be in a new golden age, and is extending its influence outward in trade, war, and the reclamation of lands once controlled by the Alkeemian empire.
