"Desperate times"

Leonakas is from Matras off the eastern coast of Windemere, a small nation of fisherman and craftsman. When the ashes fell on the islands he joined a group of volunteers ferrying refugees from the mainland to the islands that could still sustain life. When the Saggarans came later that year, raiding and capturing as was their whim, he fell into a deep depression and sailed aimlessly west before meeting with Hippolita in the plains southwest of Avacii. He found some faith in humanity restored and continued on as her commander into the New World.
