"The Merchant's Guild does not condone activities of a cultish nature"
Caiman Eldrin is a powerful figure in Meggido, the head of the Merchant's Guild and thus de facto administrator of much of the town. He was a succesful merchant before the ash fell and made the best of the opportunities the disaster prevented, his gift of graft profiting him far more than his mercantile talents.
His elevation in Meggido was due to a shaky coalition of the minor artisans and merchants attempting to deter a more powerful merchant from seizing control, though rumors circulate that since then he has taken moves to consolidate his power and may no longer be as tenuous.
The Guardians implied he may have had something to do with the cult activities uncovered, which offended him greatly.
