The Book of Quana'la

The Book of Quana'la is a record written by the monks of the Order of the Rising Moon. A large section is devoted to describing the effects of the Well of Enlightenment, but it also includes chapters on discussions and theories about magic and magical items.

The Book is part of the vast Library of Enlightenment, within which reside volumes on philosophy, science, religion, art, music, history, politics, and geography. The Book of Quana'la is the only book on magic in the library, and is kept at the centre of the library, where spells are woven about it to prevent those without the correct knowledge from removing it from its plinth.

Author

The Book of Quana'la was started by the monk Quana'la soon after the founding of the Order of the Rising Moon, when the Well of Enlightenment was discovered. Quana'la wrote an extensive journal about the Well, and when he died the Book was added to the Library so that the other monks could study Quana'la's work. Over the years, sections were added to the Book by various monks, but Quana'la's journal made up a large portion of the Book. When Ralthyr Wazavor joined the Order, he studied the book extensively over the next three years, even adding a small section himself. A master of magic himself, he concluded that everything in the Book was, to his knowledge, accurate.

"Everything in this book is accurate, as far as I know. Quana'la's reasoning was sound, and everyone else appears to have studied magic for quite a few years before daring to add even the smallest word. This is a priceless artifact full of knowledge more precious than the air we breath."
