As the expedition that established protocols to avoid the costly sinking or stranding of shipping, Operation Red Bronze will go down in history as one of the most important research missions of the Federation.

Those spires... I swear, they're out to get us. There's no way we can sail by night in these waters.
— Captain Sylvia Adamsen of the Atlas
Operation Red Bronze was established just twelve years after the reunification of the Ironfoot Isles, to create protocols for safe navigation through the Spire Fields, a catch-all term for groupings of ten-meter spikes jutting out of the water engraved with runes. Despite heavy casualties (over six hundred sailors in the first year alone), the operation was a success, and has undoubtedly saved many lives.
