the Halflings of the Inner Plains

in the inner plains 2 groups of Halflings reside. one group called the wanderers wander the plains near the rivers and across the plains. the wanderers live of the animals of the plains and the wheat fields that are scattered across the Plains. they wander to follow there game and so they don't deplete all of one wheat field. the plains contain great kangaroos that are quite large any in the land. the halflings have trained these great beasts and ride them as beasts of burden. the wanderers believe that the main river gives life to all the plains so they take the largest bison from there first hunt in the spring and sacrifice it to the river. they sacrifice the bison by burning it to ashes and then scatter the ashes in the great river of life. the wanders go to the forest in the late winter and early spring to meet with there forest brothers and make their sacrifice to the great river of life. when a young man is sixteen they join the men in the hunt and then is officially considered a man in the wanderers culture.    the other group the forest halflings are a little more settled. they stay close to the river and live of the fish and fruits of the forest. they collect the fruit from bushes and the fruit trees. they build small settlements along the river. they don't like staying in one place for very long so they split into three groups of halflings and rotate which settlement they live in. they found that if they stay in one place for long they get annoyed more easily and go into strange supernatural rages. to prevent this they move where they live. the forest halflings also give sacrifices to the river they give up the best fruit of the first harvest to the river for a year of great harvest.
