insane spirits

in the old days of the past of the elves there were insane spirits they are all extinct know but they cause chaos to the early elves. this spirits varied in color and size some were small and some were large the size of a insane spirit showed how much power it had the larger the spirit the more powerful. they had different colors with showed how it would make you insane the colors were blue red and green. blue made you overcome with grief that would make you go insane of grief. red made you mad with rage an unquenchable rage of fire. green made you so paranoid and scared of anything that they would run and scream at any thing. the insane spirits possessed the elves and then made them go insane depending on the color they are. elves found a way to protect themselves from these spirits and were able too hunt them down. after some time a spirit will some times leave. Frederick  is one of the creatures victims ha was stricken with sadness by a spirit when he was young and then a powerful anger spirit took control of him. after an insane spirit leaves it will some times leave a sickness they will seem fine but then for a couple of weeks they will have just spurts of madness and then it will go away elves believes it was because the mind still hadn't caught up and so it repeated what it had been doing until it notices there isn't a spirit. the only way to slay these creatures is with magic any weapon passed right through the creatures so the ended up using magic to destroy the weaker ones and those could be taken out by one person. the larger ones needed 2 sometimes 4 magic uses to destroy the creatures and it was very dangerous because they had to be very careful or a very powerful magic user could have been possessed.
