bison stew of the Halflings

the wanderer halflings of the Inner Plains wander the plains and follow the bison for food. when a boy turns sixteen in a wanderers tribe they then join the men in the hunt of the bison. when a boy kills his first bison they then create a meat stew from the bison that they eat in a great feast. after the man kills the bison and eats the stew they then are considered a man in there culture. the man who killed the bison keeps the bisons furs instead of giving the furs to the tribe for tents or blankets. he keeps the furs and can make them into whatever he wants commonly a blanket or coat. the reason they do this ritual is because of the great story of Areteh. a minotaur come from the southern mountains and destroyed the tribes of halflings in the south. the tribes from the north herd news of this great best after many councils they sent Areteh to fight the minotaur. Areteh was a young halfling around sixteen years old when he went to the south to face the minotaur. he was a hunter that hunted the great bison for food. he journeyed down to the south along the river and on his way down he took down a great bison and sacrificed it to the great river of life he did not think he was strong enough to defeat the minotaur so with his sacrifice he asked for strength against the minotaur. he then went to the minotaur and slew the minotaur in a great fight and being hungry from his battle Areteh then created a great stew with the meat from the minotaur. the wandering halflings now tell this story at there feast when they have this feast for the boys to become men.
