Mammoth

This namesake of the Realm of the Mammoth Lords is a powerful beast of burden which is common to the region of it's name.   While not the fastest of cheapest of pack animals, it is unrivaled in strength and carry capacity. Travelling in large family groups in the wild, and dangerous when angered due to their size and strength, the domestication of these great beasts is a sign of a Clans power. Even a smaller Clan can demand great respect if they have a strong pack of domesticated Mammoth.    These great beasts allow for an extremely sophisticated nomadic lifestyle, able to haul the supplies for great tents, defensive structures, and far larger and heavier camp materials than many other pack animals, without the reliance of a cart which can restrict mobility and get bogged down in the damn snow covered ground. Additionally due to their powerful trunks, they can help with the assembly of camp structures, granting a great boost the size and complexity with what can be built.   Mammoth are also highly intelligent for a pack animal, able to learn complex tasks and learn new ones quickly. Also as a result of both family based pack structures and intelligence, once domesticated a Mammoth is incredibly loyal to their Clan, seeming to recognize their Clan as their family and often coming to the defense of members of their Clan unless otherwise directed by a handler.   Among the raider Clans a Mammoth is also a powerful weapon, often used as a powerful siege platform, able to easily damage carts or walls alike with a powerful charge. The bellowing cry of a stampeding group of Mammoth has been the doom of many improperly protected or reckless caravans. However, due to the size and speed limitations of Mammoth, they often rely on carefully planned terrain based ambushes to attack caravans, and a good scout can often detect one of these ambushes and warn their caravan before stumbling into one of these Clan traps.
