Artifacts

An artefact that is said is said to belong to Theninda is a tattered black cloak. Though it is not kept in any place, it is always worn by those who she calls her champions throughout the ages. Efforts have been made by the church to own this cloak in times when she had no champion, but it always disappears when a new champion is chosen.

Holy Books & Codes

Like the rest of the Old Gods, Theninda has a chapter in the Book of Beginnings. She also has her own text, which is a scroll called the Book of Theninda. It tells the story of how she became to be the Goddess of Death - in the world that the Old Gods created, people suffered for as they grew old and sick they had nowhere to go. Theninda created death so that they would have an end to their suffering, which led to the creation of the afterlife that they might have a reward for the time they spent living.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The symbol of Theninda is a bird, one that is depicted in flight. There are debates over exactly what type of bird it is supposed to represent. The bird carries a flower in its claws, which many interpret as representing life that the bird is taking away.

Tenets of Faith

Death is the end of all things, and is something that cannot be avoided forever. However, Theninda is not without mercy, and wishes for those who die before their time to have a chance. Therefore, according to scripture, she will play a game with those who die. If they win, which none ever do, they will return to the land of the living. If they do not, then they will be dead, with the ability to be resurrected locked away forever.
Throughout scripture, many have played games with Theninda, believing that they could outwit her. This is wrong - the only chance a departed soul has at life is to not play, and to trust that they are loved enough to return. This all ties into the central teaching that the Book of Beginnings carries about Theninda - trying to live for longer for yourself is wrong. It is the love of others that grants life.

Holidays

The Day of Theninda is the last day of the year. It is a humble day, when everyone remembers, in whatever way seems best to them, all those who have died over the course of the year.
There are no rules about how one remembers - some like to be quiet and contemplative, while others like to throw a party to celebrate the lives of their friends. It is, ultimately, a day to accept the inevitability of death, so that one may move on before the year that is to come.
