The Long Frost

We dream of a spring that will never come - Writing in a Cave
The Long Frost as a massive winter event that covered much of the continent of Norria in snow and ice for several years. Forcing much of theHuman population to live underground and live a life hunting and foraging. Many would perished from starvation or cold as the snow continued to blanket the land in an white blanket as far as the eye could see. Even the waterways and part of the sea were frozen over with thick layers of ice that could not be breach with simple weapons. Those who survived it would be harden and no longer take what they had for granted and did what ever it took to survive.

The Unexpected

Winters had always been harsh in Norria as long as anyone could remember, but then around 457 CA winter did not arrive as it usually did that year. Most people thought that the gods were fighting the Dread Kings so winter would not arrive until next year. That was until it finally did arrive a month later and it came in with unrelenting fury. The large gust of wind that could chill a man to his every being came from the far north and with a blizzard that covered all the land. It caught the people off guard as they scrambled to gather resources to survive such a storm and hid in their homes to survive such a terrible storm. The land soon slept as ice and snow covered it and no food could be grown from it and many took up hunting. But the surface soon became too cold to live on and many were forced to leave their homes and find shelter underground when they would be shelter from the cold.

Survival

Life living in the caves was not easy as food was hard to find and their were may mouths to feed. Those who were strong enough were sent out to hunt for food. Some came back with enough food and others did not at all. Sacrifices were made for the survival of many, some dug deeper under ground to eat the creatures and plants living their while the tunnels they made collapsed on them and killing them. Some cast out the old and weak in to the cold as they were were a waste to share food with. Then there those who feasted upon the corpses of those who perished as they the only food around. This would last for three years that seemed like a life time to those who emerged from their caves to hear the sound of birds and the warmth of the sun. But the things that they did in those cave would haunt for the rest of their lives.

Aftermath

The land would take some time to fully awaken as the ice and snow melted, but that was considered to long for the survivors as they began to hunt what ever they could find. Those in the far north began to live the life of hunters and gathers as they lived in a land of longer winters for it never receded after winter ended. The rest of the continent though this changed drastically As survivors began taking hunt for what food was around while others starved. Those who were desperate began raiding other settlements for just anything they could eat. Fighting soon ensued across the land and even after the land returned to normal it still continued as the survivors formed their own clans with one another for many years. Honor and a glorious death was favored over becoming old and weak as the clans begun to master the art of war. Then explorers soon came to Norria and the natives were fascinated by their wealth. They began to trade with them while other stole from them and built ships to raid and pillage new lands they were plentiful then their own. The rise of the Norrians had begun as their supremacy over the continent was solidified though war and bloodshed.

Manifestation

The worst of it happened in the far north as stormed did not wish to lighten up and the cold could turn a man into a frozen statue if they stayed out too long. While the south was more fortunate as the snow did not come down that heavy, but it still came down to cover the landscape.
