This item is set out at night to be so when their Spirit leaves their body they need to find a way to cross over. The lantern helps guide them towards the path of the dead and to the Gates of the Eternity. Where they may find their place in the afterlife and no longer feel tormented once they find peace. Every family has a lantern send their deceased loved ones off and make sure it kept safe from any harm. For if the do not they will remain lost in the world living and torment them until they find peace.

Significance

The Spirit Lantern is a traditional item used by people of the Caoue to guided the Spirits of their deceased family members to the afterlife. With each one having the symbol of the family name on it so the spirit can finds its way. The whole family must journey with the lantern down road at night so the spirit may finds its way towards the starlight path. Where the latern is blown out and the spirit can take the path and go on its way.
