Rebirth Day

Each path must be made by one self in order to find their place in life. But that does not mean that someone cannot help them along the way. - Tribal Shaman

History

Rebirth Day is a sacred day to the Ve'tal children as is the right of passage into adulthood. Dating back thousands of years to prove the worth of the child if they have the right to become an adult. For when the child reaches the age of adulthood they are no longer a child and must converse with the Spirits to send them on a journey of rebirth to become a new person for they will no longer go back to the ways of childhood. In doing this they will understand the path that was set out for them so they may understand who they really are. All children must go through this journey no matter their gender, for if they do not they will be trapped in between worlds and never become who they were mean't to be.

Execution

The Blessing

  The child is brought for before the leaders of their village to be examined them and to be question of things the enjoy and the ideals that they believe in. Once those questions are answered each one gives their blessing a mark on their forehead. The chief's blessing it that of blood as to lead is to sacrifice. The elder's blessing is that of ash as all things must come to an end and shaman's blessing is that of plant paste as all things of connected to nature.  

The Journey

  The child must then drink Macala so they may begin their journey. Where they are set out into the forest where they may seek the Spirits that will guide them on their journey. These spirits will often look into their minds and take the form of animals to make it easier for them. There they will travel through their mind and what they see will decided who they really are. This can take several days to achieve as these journeys are long and delve deep into the mind. Once their journey and contemplate what they return home.  

The Celebration

  When they return they return home the tribe gathers around and the shaman as them what their name is. When the child speaks it will be their adult name and they will officially become an adult. There will be a great feast for the whole tribe to enjoy and the new adult will receive gifts to help them in their new life. All the while they give away their old belongings from childhood to other children so they may enjoy them. This will last for a few hours and then the tribe will go on with their lives.

Components and tools

Macala: it is a hallucinogenic drug that is used for spiritual purposes to allow a person to better reach enlightenment.

Participants

The parents of the child, the village elder, chief and shaman must be their witness the event.

Observance

It take place on the day the child reaches puberty which is consider adulthood.
