Night of the Howling Moon

You must always be careful when you go on a full moon near the forest. Those who don't might end up being a Wulver's meal. - Woodsmen

History

Night of Release

The Wulver have long since struggled to keep their savage nature in check and consume them. But there are times when that nature cannot be locked away and must be released. The moon has tremendous sway over them, and when it is complete, it releases the beast within them. It is why they go through a monthly ceremony to allow their inner beast to be satisfied. On the eve of the full moon, the pack tribes shall go through what appears to be a celebration to allow them to let loose and do what they need to satisfy their primal instinct. It is perilous for outsiders and other pack tribes to be near each other when they are often seen as prey or a threat to them. Only those known to a Pack Tribe are often safe as they know their scent, and a piece of their consciousness allows them to recognize non-Wulver members of the Pack Tribe. But once the ceremony begins, it ends up being a time of primal needs such as hunting or fighting to satisfy the urges they try to keep in check. This will often go on throughout the night as all the Wulver apart of it become lost in their wild state. Finally, when the sun comes up, they can be at ease knowing they will not lose control over themselves and have been satisfied.   However, a night like this can also be used in times of conflict with other Pack Tribes and enemies near them. A Wulver that is dangerous foes to face in battle, but a one that act with savage veroiusty is ever more so. It is during this time a war party can bring chaos and fear to all who challenge them as their beastial fury takes hold of them, decimating all that they come across. Many a time this tactic was used, but it comes at a price that drains them of their energy and leaves them exahuseted once the night ends. Making it all the more important for them to drive their foes away or wipe them out as soon a possible. They uses the power they have only when they need it and never abuse it for it will consume them if they let it happen.

Execution

The night goes on through several events, often acting more like animals and letting their consciousness go to a more animalistic state of mind. They will often howl at the moon, and many will go into the forest to hunt or fight one another as a test of dominace. There is no actual order to a night such as this, and the Wulver do what they want so long as they do not attack the Pack Cheif, as it is a sign of a challenge. Some can control their primal nature better and will just do ceremonial dances and celebrate, unlike their move wild brethren.

Observance

It is done once a month on the night of the full moon and down all throughout the night until the sun comes up.
Species: Wulver

A Trial of Self Control

The night is not just a time to let loose for the Wulver; it is a test of will as well, as they can quickly lose themselves to their bestial nature. Often being a delicate balance of keeping control of what consciousness they have and what part of the animal in them to appease. But there are times when they let the animal take control entirely, and when that happens, it is often hard to bring them back to themselves. This is often called the Savage Hunger, but it is commonly known as Feral Madness. Often leading to a Wulver eventually being killed after being unable to break from this animalistic state. They must keep these part of themselves in check or become the animals they fear becoming.
