Goblin Species in The Sagas | World Anvil

Goblin

I tell you this if you ever see one Goblin, then there will be more not too far behind, and then you will be in trouble if you are alone. - Veteran Warrior
Goblins are a vile race of small humanoids considered rodents due to their nature and upbringing. One of many creations of the Warlock lords, Goblins are found across the Continent of Norria, often being found in caves and ruins where they make their homes. They commonly attack people and steal things from others for any reason; they have even been known to steal babies occasionally. Many hate their nature and their horrid smell as they do not bathe and are considered parasites due to taking just about anything and not making or growing anything on their own.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Small bipedal humanoids with a pair of arms and legs. Skin is a tint of green and is leathery showing a layer of thickness to them.

Biological Traits

Short: Theses creatures are much smaller than most other creatures around them and can easily be overwhelm by something bigger than them. However their size allows them to be much harder to catch and are able to enter places where larger things can’t.   Dumb: Theses creature lack a degree of intelligence that put them at a disadvantage in survival. Making them actively cause harm to themselves more often than most should and have an inability to solves most problems.   Black blood : These creature are one in few races that have blood that black. Though the reason behind this remains unknown, only that a few traits are found with other races with the same blood.   Agile: Theses creatures are able to move at astounding speeds and are able to move quickly to gain ground. This also allows them to climb much easier and move faster when fighting.

Genetics and Reproduction

Goblins reproduce with a male and a female often taking around five month pregnancy for one to three goblins being born at a time.

Growth Rate & Stages

Goblins grow much faster than most other races being able to reach adulthood at eight years old. Their skin often tells how old they are by the richness of their color and the size of their ears that continue to grow throughout their lives. Their teeth have also grown long and twitched as they age.

Ecology and Habitats

Goblins make their home in colder climates by making their homes in ruins, caves, and tunnels where they live in great numbers. Here, they go to the surrounding areas of their nest to hunt in packs, steal from others, and bring it back to create large hoards of what they find and collect garbage to add to it, making their homes reak of all kinds of stinky smells.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Goblins are omnivores but often prefer meat to plants when they can. Often hunting or stealing food with them, often hoarding it for themselves. They have been known to have livestock that they steal, but they tend to kill them later to eat rather than maintain them.

Biological Cycle

Goblins often store food during the colder times of the year and remain underground or in a shelter until it gets warmer out.

Behaviour

Goblins, at most, tolerate each other as they only seem to care about their self-interest at heart rather than for the good of a group. Often backstab one another to have a higher social standing and are prone to violence. When they are not fighting each other, they are fighting others, mainly Humans, who they steal from and often kill for fun.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Goblin society is hierarchical with the smartest and fiercest goblin at the top and going farther down to the dumbest and the weakest of them all. This is done through a tribal system filled with backstabbing, tributes and craftiness in order to go up the social ladder. Goblins are often seen together in packs both large and small in order to have strength in number. A well as learning to howl like wolves they ride into battle as a means communicating though long distances or to assert dominance.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Goblins are often killed by anything and everything due to their size and lack of intelligence, but most people dent to take their ears as trophies.
