Look here you forked tongued miscreant of you talk about my mother like that again, I'm going to stuff you in this sack and you're going to stay in their until I say otherwise - Wizard arguing with their FamiliarSince the first magic caster, there has always been a Familiar to aid them of their journeys. Though no one exactly knows why theses creatures come into being to aid them, they remain helpful for their masters. Often acting assistants they will do what ever they can ensure their masters succeed with their task. Though of course they tend to be quick difficult at times if one is not careful with them and will take some convincing to get them back on task. But in the end they are considered a magic casters one true friend that they can count on and close bonds are forged with them the longer they are around their master.

A Familiar comes in many shapes and sizes and will often take the biology of the creature they take.
Biological Traits
Familiars tend to come in four different types of creature that a magic caster can choose form depending on their magic, natural, magical, elemental, and demonic.
Natural: As the name implies, it is often an animal that comes form the natural world like a bird or a mammal that can be exactly identical to it. Though they will often act like that animal sometimes as their essence is apart of them.
Magical: It is often a creature that is born magically to begin with and often comes out a hybrid of several different animals combined. The creatures tend to be unpredictable at times as their exact nature is a mystery to some.
Elemental: These Familiars tend to be created from a single element from the world itself and often look like that elements. These can often be dangerous to handle as they inherit the attributes that come with that element and must be handled worth care to avoid harm to ones self and others.
Demonic: Often from those with dark hearts, they will take form of a demon of sorts. These will mostly likely take the form of a lesser demon as they a submissive and weak. But they will often urge their masters to commit horrible acts and inflate their egos.
Another interesting thing about them is that they continue to exist even after their master dies as they appear to have become bond to the world they were summoned into. Often carrying what ever knowledge that they have learned from their master. But if they die that knowlege and magical energy will either disperse or to absorbed by an item or another magic user. Which is why lone Familiars tend to seek out magic casters that have yet to summon a familiar to become their master. As long as their master is alive, even if they die they will reform over time to sever their master once more.
Growth Rate & Stages
A Familiar come into being being when the magic caster seeks aid, which is often being caused by a stressful or when trying to actually summon a Familiar. Once that happens the Familiar will appear as an adult size version of the creature and ready to aid them.
Ecology and Habitats
A Familiar being a creature born of magic will often have a better time adapting to their environment, unlike most animals and will be able to do things that most others can't possibly imagine. They often look like the actual size of the creature they take form of or a smaller version of it so their master can carry them if need be.
Dietary Needs and Habits
A Familiar will often have diet of the creature it takes form of, meaning it will act just like the creature when eating.

The Familiar's world is revolved around it master and will carry out it commands when ever it has been told to do so.
Domestication
A first the creation of a Familiar is hard to control when its dealing with someone who is starting out with magic. But the Familiar is bound to its master and will go where ever they go. They tend to be mischievous at this stage as they are new to the world and are trying to figure things out. But once a magic caster gets their bearings on their magic they will become mature and obey the commands of it's master.
